Hoopoes and Cypress

First sighting of Hoopoes
Garden of Paradise
Shiraz, Iran/September 2003

To my delight, I sighted my first Hoopoes foraging in the Garden of Paradise under the stately Cypress trees. In Conference of the Birds by Farid A-Din’ Attar, all the birds of the bird kingdom follow the Hoopoe in quest of the mythical bird of God, the Simurgh.
